To start off this article, here’s some news I wasn’t able to cover this week due to being sick:

-Disneyland stopped the California Screamin roller coaster when a rider pulled out a Selfie Stick

-Disney is considering investing $1 Billion into Disneyland in order to prevent tax levies on the park for another thirty years

-Walt Disney World is officially banning selfie sticks from all four parks on June 30th

-On July 1st, Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris will officially ban selfie sticks

Wow, I guess it was mostly Selfie Stick news, and now for the Kings Dominion part!

Last Tuesday, we woke up early, packed, got in the car, and started our four hour drive to Kennywood. Yes, I said Kennywood and not Kings Dominion. We listened to the radio and realized that it was going to pour across the east coast. After checking the weather on my phone, we realized that Kennywood would get the nasty weather much earlier than the east coast. So instead, we decided to go to our home park, Kings Dominion (Kings Dominion was going to have clear weather all day)!

DSCN1980

Here we are, Kings Dominion!

DSCN1983

Dominator began testing over thirty minutes before the park opened.

DSCN1984

Loop-de-loop.

DSCN1985

We entered the park thirty minutes early for Season Passholder rides.

DSCN1986

We passed by the photogenic Dominator on our way into the park.

DSCN1988

So many twists and turns!

DSCN1989

We were the first guests in the back parts of the park!

DSCN1990

Dominator is a fantastic view when entering the park.

DSCN1991

The park was empty!

DSCN1992

We made our way back towards Avalanche and Volcano, which were the two Season Passholder early admission rides for the day. Unfortunately, Volcano was closed at the time, but we did get four rides on Avalanche, the Mack Rides bobsled coaster, which I forgot to take pictures of!

DSCN1994

Now, here’s a ton of pictures of Intimidator 305, which is by far one of the best roller coasters on earth!

DSCN1995

Intamin Airtime!

DSCN1998

Here’s a shot of the Elevator Lift Cable!

DSCN1999

The curves of the Intimidator are fantastic photo-ops!

DSCN2000

Also, they’re not too bad to ride on!

DSCN2002

The second train was sitting in storage, which gave you a fantastic view as you exited the ride. Although they were only running one train, there was almost no line on Intimidator 305.

DSCN2003

Nerd Shot!

DSCN2004

Up the fastest lift hill!

DSCN2005

Whee! Airtime!

DSCN2007

A couple of people are having some hairtime in the back!

DSCN2009

I-305 is over so fast!

DSCN2010

Here’s the other Intamin scream machine at Kings Dominion!

DSCN2012

Next, we rode Flight of Fear.

DSCN2013

Then, we ventured past Planet Snoopy towards Windseeker. On the sign for Planet Snoopy, the construction theming is part of the old Kidzone from the Paramount era of the park.

DSCN2014

The park was empty. There was almost nobody on the midway.

DSCN2015

We passed the Bad Apple, which was formerly the Triple Spin.

DSCN2017

I almost forgot that Kings Dominion even had a carousel.

DSCN2018

We finally arrived at Windseeker. I rode it in search of possible 2016 construction.

DSCN2021

Behind Windseeker, I spotted these yellow steel beams. I was not sure what they were, but Coaster Insanity (which is a fantastic theme park website) let me know they are evacuation platforms for Windseeker.

DSCN2022

Afterwards, we were intending to ride Xtreme Skyflyer, but it wasn’t going to open until 12:00 (thirty minutes later), so we decided to skip it.

DSCN2027

Next, we visited Kings Dominion’s waterpark, which is now known as Soak City!

DSCN2028

Here’s Kings Dominion’s newest addition, Hurricane Heights!

DSCN2029

I rode most of the slides and they were all fantastic! Hurricane Heights is a fantastic addition to Kings Dominion!

DSCN2032

Later, I decided to ride Windseeker again!

DSCN2034

Here’s another nerd shot! It shows you a bit on how this ride works!

DSCN2038

Next, we decided to get some lunch. On the way to the Border Cafe, which is a Mexican restaurant in the front of the park, I passed by the Log Flume. Here’s a quick shot I took of it!

DSCN2040

There they go, right down the drop!

DSCN2042

Look, it’s the last ride we would go on, the Eiffel Tower!

DSCN2046

The Eiffel Tower gives a fantastic view of the park! I looked for construction, but there was no visible work.

DSCN2047

I had to get some shots of Intimidator while I was up there!

DSCN2048

If Kings Dominion were to build a roller coaster in 2016, I could see Kings Dominion building it in the clearing behind I-305.

DSCN2050

I love this view of Kings Dominion.

DSCN2051

Dominator also looked fantastic from the sky!

DSCN2054

Hurricane Heights had a long line by the time we were on the Eiffel Tower.

DSCN2056

Americana stuck out above the other rides.

DSCN2059

The Flying Eagles have been at Kings Dominion since opening day.

DSCN2061

Hurler was as nice looking as always!

DSCN2062

The Eiffel Tower also provides a fantastic view of Grizzly.

DSCN2065

Volcano began running later in the day!

DSCN2068

Anaconda is picturesque, but not one of my favorite rides.

DSCN2069

And they go into the double Corkscrew!

DSCN2071

Here’s a shot looking back at Kings Dominion’s famous fountains! If you look at the back right section of the parking lot, you can see a different gray color than the rest of the lot. This is a large section of gravel sitting without anything on it.  Now, nothing at all is confirmed, but I could see Kings Dominion using this thin, but long stretch of land to build a hypercoaster. (As much as I want to do this, it is not at all guaranteed).

DSCN2074

Backlot Stunt Coaster is very well themed, especially for a Cedar Fair park.

DSCN2075

Windseeker was soaring high in the sky!

DSCN2077

It didn’t look like Flying Ace was open.

DSCN2081

Behind Rebel Yell is a large patch of trees. This area would be able to fit some rides if Kings Dominion wanted to build them there.

DSCN2082

The Blue Ridge Tollway takes a large amount of space too. If the park took that down, they could easily build some thrill rides, or they could use the area behind Shockwave too and build a roller coaster. Again, nothing is confirmed, and very little is rumored for the next few years at Kings Dominion, so this is just thinking about the possibilities of the future.

DSCN2084

Next, I took a short break by the fountains. The tables there are a fantastic and shady spot!

DSCN2085

The flowers there looked nice too!

DSCN2089

Kings Dominion is also selling pins now!

DSCN2090

Here’s one last shot to end the trip!

We had our fourth fantastic visit to Kings Dominion this year! The new slides were great, and I couldn’t help but wonder what Kings Dominion will get in 2016! Thank you for visiting Theme Parks and Travels!
